We’re actively seeking talented Actuarial professionals for our internal rotation program at Pacific Life in Newport Beach, CA, Omaha, NE, or Charlotte, NC. We are recruiting for actuaries who have passed 5 or more SOA exams. This opportunity follows a hybrid schedule of four days in the office (on-site). As an actuarial student, you will automatically be enrolled in our Student Actuarial Rotation Program. The purpose of the Program is to develop and broaden the skills, knowledge, and breadth of experience of actuaries across Pacific Life. Students typically rotate every 18-24 months, which aims to expose them to multiple functional areas, products, and technologies.

Actively pursue the ASA/FSA credential by participating in the Student Actuarial Rotation Program

Base Pay Range:

The base pay range noted represents the company’s good faith minimum and maximum range for this role at the time of posting. Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in data science, computer science, engineering, statistics, GIS, or related discipline. Degree may be substituted with an additional 2 yrs of experience.
Strong coding proficiency in Python and SQL, with experience writing production-quality, maintainable code; working knowledge of R is a plus.
Hands-on experience with data manipulation, feature engineering, machine learning libraries (e.g., scikit-learn, PyTorch, TensorFlow), and automation tools.
Experience contributing to full-cycle data projects, including data preparation, modeling, validation, and reporting.

Key Highlights

The Assistant Director will support the UPMC Clinical Genomics Laboratory (UCGL) at UPMC Magee Women’s Hospital, a laboratory performing prenatal, constitutional, and oncology molecular testing.
UCGL provides comprehensive services including whole exome sequencing, disease specific genomic panels, hereditary cancer screening, carrier screening, and pharmacogenomic analysis using advanced technologies such as next generation sequencing (NGS).
The Assistant Director will contribute to technical leadership, compliance oversight, case sign out, assay development, client consultation, and education/training, while also holding a faculty appointment at the University of Pittsburgh.
Evaluate and report clinical genetics and genomics cases, including carrier screening, Sanger sequencing, quantitative RT PCR, and NGS.
Provide technical and compliance oversight for the clinical genomics laboratory; review and approve procedures and QA/QI plans with the CLIA/CAP Lab Director.
Assist in developing, validating, implementing, and maintaining laboratory procedures.
Ensure ongoing compliance with CLIA, CAP, and other regulatory requirements.
Collaborate with UPMC and University of Pittsburgh partners, including UPMC Children’s Hospital, on service development and business planning.
Consult with clinicians and clients regarding test selection and result interpretation.
Maintain active ABMGG certification and remain up to date with advances in genetics and molecular genomics.

Teaching, Research & Academic Contribution

Participate in research aligned with the clinical and public health missions of UPMC and the University of Pittsburgh.
Collaborate with faculty and researchers across the institution.
Contribute to teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels; provide training to laboratory staff, students, residents, and fellows.
Publish in peer reviewed journals and present at professional conferences.

Required Qualifications

PhD, MD, or DO in Clinical Laboratory Science, Genetics, Molecular Biology, or related field.
ABMGG board certified or board eligible in Laboratory Genetics and Genomics or Clinical Molecular Genetics.
Minimum 3 years clinical laboratory experience.
Expertise in exome/genome analysis and interpretation of sequence and CNV data from NGS.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Demonstrated problem solving and operational leadership.

Job Description:

We’re actively seeking a talented Senior Actuary to join our Enterprise Valuation team in Newport Beach, CA; Omaha, NE; or Charlotte, NC.

As a Senior Actuary, you’ll play a key role in Pacific Life’s growth and long-term success by performing quarter-end calculations of balances with a GAAP accounting framework for the life insurance business. Collaborating across various business areas to provide effective insights and communication of GAAP net income impacts to key stakeholders.

You will fill an existing role that sits on a team of 6 people in the Enterprise division. Your colleagues will include other actuaries and a business analyst.

How you will make an impact:

Support the GAAP Director in managing the quarter-end deliverables through effective tracking, delegation of tasks and resolution of issues
Perform quarterly calculations of GAAP balances for life insurance products (LFPB, DPL, DAC & URR, SOP 03-1, PFBL, PHAB, FAS133 reserves).
Serve as a subject matter expert on GAAP and how GAAP balances for life insurance products are impacted by changes in economic or business conditions.
Perform analysis to educate senior management and other stakeholders of GAAP impacts and expectations.
Foster the development of team members by seeking out opportunities for and providing coaching & training to other team members and engaging in regular review & feedback on team members’ work product.
Ensure the ongoing compliance of GAAP processes with both internal and regulatory governance standards through robust controls and documentation
Serve as one of the main point of contact for internal and external audit requests
Identify and pursue opportunities to improve the current state and capabilities of GAAP metrics, analytics & insights for life insurance products, including the exploration of the application of AI.
Developing new solutions to ad-hoc/sensitivity analyses requested from other functional areas including reinsurance, plan, product design/pricing, etc. Provide support as needed for industry-wide GAAP working group projects.
Assist with ad-hoc projects and requests supporting the Valuation area as needed.

The experience you will bring:

Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, Mathematics, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field
Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) designation required Strong analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills (both verbal and written)
Effective time management and multi-tasking skills

6+ years’ actuarial experience
Experience with actuarial modeling systems such as FIS Prophet

We’re actively seeking a talented Senior Actuary to join our Annuity Inforce Management in Newport Beach, CA, Omaha, NE or Charlotte, NC. This role follows a hybrid schedule of four days in the office (on-site). If you are not currently located near one of our offices, we offer comprehensive relocation assistance.

Key responsibilities on the team are:

Support annual plan projections and analysis
Support rebasing of plan projections on a quarterly basis using updated economics and assumptions
Collaborate with FP&A team on identifying drivers of plan to actual results
Provide line of sight to management on key drivers to profitability and identify drivers of change to inforce MYGA/PLA profitability
Provide sufficient information to identify impacts of NGE elements to plan income
Lead monthly renewal rates analysis for RILA and communicate insights to the team
Identify retention strategies for high performing business and partner with division on execution

Develop and share business insights related to portfolio evolution from renewal rate decisions
