Property Accounting Manager Requirements & Qualifications

• Minimum 8 years of experience as a comptroller or full-time bookkeeper in New York City residential rental properties.
• Expertise in Yardi and Excel accounting software.
• Strong accounting, file management, and computer skills.
• Ability to interact effectively with the CEO, executive staff, CPAs, and lawyers.

Property Accounting Manager Preferred Background & Skills

• Familiarity with managing both regulated and deregulated apartment buildings.
• Experience with corporate accounting functions, including A/R and A/P management.
• Knowledge of DHCR regulations and property registration processes.

Property Accounting Manager Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Oversee all aspects of corporate bookkeeping for 400 apartments across free market, rent stabilized, and rent controlled units, plus office, retail, and medical spaces.
• Manage corporate accounting functions, including check deposits, invoices, security deposits, and cash management.
• Ensure monthly reconciliation of accounts and maintain accurate financial records.
• Register regulated apartments with the DHCR and file annual property registrations.
• Oversee employee payroll through ADP, union payments, and employee benefits.
• Interface with banks and collaborate with colleagues to ensure smooth operations.
