Job Description

Tensley Consulting is seeking a Modeling, Simulation, and Technical Analyst (MSTA) – Level 3 to support the distributed TechSIGINT mission. The selected candidate will apply analytic methods, mathematical models, simulations, and technical assessments to evaluate foreign systems, platforms, and technologies.

This role involves developing, adapting, or applying models and simulations to characterize system performance, behavior, capabilities, limitations, and vulnerabilities. The analyst will assess model assumptions, validity, and limitations, and integrate results into broader intelligence assessments and operational decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Apply mathematical, statistical, or physics-based models to analyze foreign systems, platforms, or technologies

  • Develop, adapt, validate, or use simulations to assess system performance, behavior, capabilities, limitations, or vulnerabilities

  • Translate real-world system behavior into analytic models or simulations suitable for intelligence analysis or mission decision support

  • Assess model assumptions, inputs, limitations, and uncertainties and evaluate their impact on analytic conclusions

  • Integrate modeling and simulation outputs with SIGINT, FISINT, ELINT, or other analytic products to support intelligence assessments

  • Develop or use analytic tools, scripts, or software supporting modeling, simulation, or technical analysis

  • Document modeling methodologies and communicate results to technical and non-technical stakeholders

Education/Expierience

Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or another technical discipline from an accredited college or university is required.

Twenty (20) years of experience supporting modeling and simulation technical analysis is required. Eighteen (18) years of experience may be accepted with a Master’s degree in a related technical discipline. Sixteen (16) years of experience may be accepted with a Ph.D. in a related technical discipline. Twenty-three (23) years of relevant experience may be substituted in place of a degree. Candidates must have a minimum of fourteen (14) years of experience with MVS/TRP and VS/TRP-RWB or GFP and GFP-RWB, regardless of degree.

Salary : $185,000-$200,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position, but is not guaranteed. Salary is based on experience, location and contractual requirements which could fall outside of the range listed.

, Required Skills

  • Experience performing modeling and simulation analysis supporting aerodynamic and ballistic vehicle systems
  • Ability to conduct predictive modeling analysis of target activities and perform look-angle analysis
  • Experience conducting event reconstruction (ER) using multi-source data to characterize system behavior and identify anomalies
  • Ability to analyze and report aerodynamic and ballistic vehicle events and revise target models for future analysis
  • Experience analyzing datasets to determine standard or non-standard coordinate basis of data
  • Ability to support or develop modeling methodologies and analytic procedures
  • Experience providing technical guidance, troubleshooting, and knowledge transfer to analysts or mission partners
  • Ability to produce technical documentation, memoranda, or analytic presentations
  • Minimum 14 years of experience with MVS/TRP and VS/TRP-RWB or GFP and GFP-RWB modeling tools

, Desired Skills

  • Experience with Vehicle Simulation / Trajectory Reconstruction Program (VS/TRP) and Reconstruction Workbench (RWB)
  • Experience with Generalized Filter Program (GFP) or GFP-RWB modeling tools
  • Familiarity with TRACE, System Planning Software (SPS), or TASMANIA modeling tools
  • Experience performing sensor modeling, telemetry modeling, or subsystem modeling
  • Background in ballistic trajectory modeling or interceptor-target modeling
  • Experience developing or modifying analytic models to represent physical phenomena or vehicle performance
  • Experience supporting calibration studies or validation of modeling data sources
  • Experience presenting analysis in technical memoranda, conference presentations, or mission briefings
  • Experience mentoring analysts or providing advanced modeling tradecraft guidance
