Description

Lockheed Martin is seeking a Sr. Radar Systems Engineer to join our Engineering & Design organization in the Defense & Aerospace industry, where you will play a key role in the research, design, development, integration, and sustainment of advanced radar systems that support critical national security missions. In this senior technical role, you will lead the end-to-end systems engineering of complex radar solutions, from initial concept development and requirements definition through architecture design, modeling and simulation, hardware and software integration, and system-level test and verification. You will be responsible for defining and allocating radar system requirements, developing system architectures and interface control documents, and performing detailed analysis of radar performance including detection, tracking, and discrimination in challenging operational environments. Using tools such as MATLAB, Python, and model-based engineering environments, you will design and refine signal processing algorithms, evaluate trade studies, and conduct simulations to optimize radar performance, reliability, and cost. The Sr. Radar Systems Engineer will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams across RF and antenna design, digital and analog electronics, embedded software, and integration and test to ensure coherent, technically sound solutions. You will lead technical reviews, provide guidance to junior engineers, and serve as a key technical point of contact for internal stakeholders and external customers. Responsibilities include developing verification and validation strategies, defining test plans and procedures, supporting lab and field testing, analyzing test data, and driving root-cause analysis and corrective actions for complex system issues. Working within Lockheed Martin’s culture of integrity, innovation, and inclusivity, you will contribute to a collaborative team environment that values ethical behavior, diverse perspectives, and a strong mission focus. You will help shape technology roadmaps, support proposals and customer briefings, and influence product evolution across the radar portfolio. This position offers the opportunity to work on state-of-the-art radar technologies, including advanced waveforms, electronic protection, sensor fusion, and adaptive signal processing, while leveraging Lockheed Martin’s broad career opportunities in engineering, technology, and related disciplines. The ideal candidate brings substantial experience in radar systems engineering or closely related RF sensor systems, a strong theoretical foundation in electromagnetics and signal processing, and hands-on experience with system integration and test in lab or field environments. A graduate degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field is strongly preferred, along with the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance. In return, Lockheed Martin provides competitive compensation, comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and 401(k), and flexible hybrid work arrangements that support both on-site collaboration and remote work where program requirements allow.
