Major Duties

  • Provides technical support services and support for DLA Enterprise Microsoft Windows Server environments, to include hardware, software and networking of servers.
  • Reviews Microsoft Windows Server and communications environments to ensure they satisfy current requirements and function.
  • Negotiates with vendors when Microsoft Windows Server hardware, software, and communication problem resolutions require vendor support; establishes and implements the required corrective action.
  • Participates in studies of implementing near and long-term Microsoft Windows Server computing strategies based on standard DLA technical architecture.
  • Contributes to technical evaluations and summary reports for economic analyses, technical specifications, funding requirements, benchmark instructions, and audit and verification procedures required for acquisition of computer resources.
  • Serves as a liaison between multiple offices and vendors to determine the feasibility and effectiveness of Microsoft Windows Server requirements for the inclusion of DLA, Army, Air Force, Navy, and Joint Service Contracts.
  • Coordinates software release and export procedures with management, customers, information systems (IS) and communications personnel to ensure that communications options and software are network compatible prior to export to the customer.

Qualification Summary

To qualify for an IT Specialist (SYSADMIN/INFOSEC), your resume and supporting documentation must support: A. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-12 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes: Identifies and analyzes hardware, software and/or communications problems related to Microsoft Windows. Contributes to technical evaluations and summary reports of findings for technical specifications, funding requirements and audit and verification procedures required for acquisition of computer resources. Performs trouble shooting and problem resolutions related to Microsoft Window servers. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
