UF Health is seeking a dedicated Rad Tech Assistant to support our MRI services in Gainesville on a part-time weekend schedule, working Saturdays and Sundays from 6:30 AM to 5:00 PM. As a key member of the Healthcare & Medical Services department, you will work alongside MRI technologists, nurses, and physicians to ensure safe, efficient, and compassionate diagnostic imaging care for a diverse patient population. In this role, you will assist with patient intake, transport, positioning, and preparation for MRI exams, helping patients feel informed, comfortable, and supported throughout their visit. You will help verify patient identification and exam orders, participate in MRI safety screening under the direction of licensed staff, and maintain strict adherence to MRI safety protocols, including control of access to MRI zones and prevention of ferromagnetic hazards. You will prepare exam rooms, organize and clean equipment, restock supplies, and support technologists during procedures by handling coils, positioning aids, and other accessories. The position also involves basic clinical support such as obtaining vital signs when requested, closely observing patients before and after imaging—particularly for contrast-enhanced studies—and promptly communicating any changes or concerns to the clinical team. Accurate and timely documentation in electronic health records and radiology systems is an important part of your daily work. This is an on-site, patient-facing role that requires excellent communication skills, a strong sense of accountability, and the ability to prioritize and remain calm in a fast-paced environment. You will be expected to follow infection prevention standards, uphold patient privacy and confidentiality, and contribute to a culture of safety, respect, and continuous improvement. At UF Health, you will join a collaborative, inclusive organization that values innovation, diversity, and professional growth. As part of a leading academic health center, you will have the opportunity to support advanced imaging services that contribute to both high-quality patient care and cutting-edge medical research. UF Health provides a supportive environment that encourages learning new skills, participating in ongoing training and competency development, and exploring future career paths within radiology and other areas of healthcare. This part-time weekend position is ideal for individuals who are passionate about patient care, interested in advanced imaging, and eager to grow within a mission-driven healthcare organization committed to excellence in care, research, and education.
