Major Duties

  • Serves as a principal advisor and assistant to the Commander/Director of a Major Subordinate Command (MSC) or other DLA major Field Sites on the implementation of DLA Intelligence (DI) security and intelligence programs.
  • Provides support and assistance to supported DLA activities and employees on all intelligence and security plans and policies under DLA Intelligence’s purview.
  • Works with DLA Intelligence subject matter experts to ensure cogent, consistent, rational plans, and policies are being promulgated and, implemented at each activity.
  • Conducts inquiries and program reviews to ensure compliance with DLA Intelligence security policies.
  • Maintains a security education and awareness training program for the general workforce, security representatives, and supervisors.
  • Participates in program and project planning efforts to evaluate the need for security requirements, identify vulnerabilities, and recommends countermeasures.

Qualification Summary

To qualify for a Security Specialist your resume and supporting documentation must support: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-12 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes: Preparing and implementing guidance, training programs, and briefings concerning security issues. Responding to problems and questions involving implementation of security guidelines. Developing and implementing operational policies, procedures, programs, and standards as required to ensure the efficient and effective implementation of security programs. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
