The Systems Engineering and Test Capabilities discipline seeks talented Systems Engineers. Our team integrates hardware and software, develops test plans and procedures, debugs and evaluates system functions and interfaces, and verifies system requirements in support of final sell-off to the customer. We put our systems together, exercise them in the lab or in the field, measure and analyze performance, and make sure our products work the first time and every time. What You Will Do

  • Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary engineering, program, and product teams to support system integration and test activities.
  • Operate tactical systems and associated simulators/stimulators.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve system anomalies through structured debugging and data-driven analysis.
  • Integrate hardware and/or software into a tactical system and evaluate the functionality and impact of these changes.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, execute test plans and procedures, analyze collected data, and clearly communicate results and recommendations.
  • Coordinate and interface with internal and external stakeholders, including customers, vendors, and cross-program partners.
  • Travel up to 20% to support system integration, testing, vendor visits, and customer engagements.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Bachelors Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) obtained prior to start

Job Details

We are looking for an Embedded Software Developer - System Validation to own and operate two hardware-in-the-loop (HITL) systems. This role sits at the intersection of embedded software, FPGA, and CI/CD automation. You will ensure that both our satellite codebase and end-device SDK are thoroughly validated before deployment, working closely with DevOps and engineering teams.

This is ONSITE (Hybrid) in Seattle, WA.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Own, maintain, and extend two HIL validation systems:
Satellite HITL: Consisting of FPGA HDL, embedded Linux, and application-layer code in Python.
End-device HITL: Built on BLE SOMs, validating our SDK for terrestrial and satellite communication (C/Zephyr).
Develop test strategies and automation to validate embedded software and system-level performance.
Collaborate with the DevOps team to integrate HIL systems into CI pipelines.
Create reproducible validation workflows and improve observability of test results.
Troubleshoot hardware/software integration issues across FPGA, embedded Linux, BLE stacks, and SDK layers.
Document validation frameworks, test coverage, and best practices.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Strong experience with embedded software development (C, C++, or similar).
Hands-on experience with system validation or hardware-in-the-loop testing.
Familiarity with Zephyr RTOS and BLE-based SOMs.
Exposure to HDL/FPGA, embedded Linux, and Python applications.
Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and integration with automated test frameworks.

The Boeing Emulation Team is currently seeking an Associate Hardware Emulation Engineer. This team is responsible for developing software models that emulate the behavior and functionality of hardware components and systems, providing an all-software test and integration environment for various Boeing projects across Commercial Airplanes, Defense and Space platforms, training devices, and autonomous platforms.

In this role, you will leverage your experience and technical skills to lead the architecture and design of emulation solutions that meet the rigorous demands of our diverse projects. A successful candidate will collaborate with the Software Enterprise to embrace software best practices, standards, and initiatives, positioning the flight simulation team for efficient, effective, and high-quality execution. You will work closely with the Fabric Boeing team, contributing to innovative solutions that enhance our emulation capabilities and streamline the integration of software and hardware.

Additionally, you will tackle reverse engineering challenges to discover solutions for hosting software in emulated environments. Your contributions will be vital in ensuring that our emulation tools not only meet current project requirements but also adapt to future technological advancements. Hands-on experience with virtualization technologies such as KVM and QEMU will be essential, as will familiarity with software development practices in GitLab. Understanding ARM, PowerPC, or x86 microprocessor architectures, along with common avionics data buses and interfaces, will further enhance your ability to deliver effective emulation solutions. Familiarity with Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs) and hardware description languages (HDL) will also be beneficial in this role.

Key Responsibilities: Provide 24x7x365 health monitoring of Platform Services, infrastructure, and applications using JSP Enterprise System Management tools including SCOM, Stratosphere, Aternity, Atrium, Splunk, vRealize Operations (VRops), and Prism. Open Break/Fix tickets, engage Platform Services teams and external agencies when system issues are observed, and respond to alerts within two (2) hours to prevent service failures when warnings of impending failures are observed. Monitor and participate (when task is related to the Platform Services team) in JSP Network Operations Security Center (JNOSC) dial-in conference bridges and JSP Chat Rooms supporting JNOSC-led troubleshooting efforts during critical incident resolution (historically 3–5 troubleshooting bridges per month). Act as the incident coordinator for activities between Platform Services teams supporting compute, applications, and infrastructure; provide status to bridge participants and JNOSC on all Priority 1 incidents affecting the Platform Services IT environments. Notify JNOSC and Platform Services Leadership within thirty (30) minutes of any system or service degradation and provide updates every four (4) hours until issue resolution. Maintain central customer lists, problem and solution knowledge bases, work instructions, employee lists, recall lists, and incident management escalation procedures on JSP Portals; report changes to JNOSC. Perform first-tier triage on Windows Server, Red Hat Linux, virtualization, and core service alerts and escalate to SME-level support when needed. Document outages, restoration times, problem resolutions, and customer impact data in the JSP Enterprise ITSM system (currently Remedy). Support COOP and contingency operations from primary or alternate continuity facilities as needed during exercises or real-world events. Minimum Qualifications: Two (2) or more years of hands-on experience as a Systems Administrator or Network Operations Center (NOC) operator in a DoD or large enterprise environment (5+ years for Senior; 7+ years for the SME variant). Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server administration; Red Hat Linux administration required for Linux Watch openings. Hands-on experience with one or more enterprise monitoring tools: SCOM, Splunk, vRops/Prism, Aternity, BMC Atrium, or similar. Experience working in a 24x7 operations environment, including comfort with rotating shifts, on-call rotations, and rapid escalation procedures. Experience with an enterprise ITSM ticketing tool (Remedy/Helix preferred) for incident, change, and work order management. Strong situational awareness, communication, and documentation skills; ability to clearly brief technical issues to leadership during outages. Familiarity with DoD STIGs, IAVM compliance, and Active Directory/DNS/DHCP fundamentals. Education Requirement: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Telecommunications, Management Information Systems, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and two (2) to seven (7) recent years of documented relevant experience based on level. Must meet DoD 8570.01-M / DoD 8140 IAT Level II baseline certification requirements prior to start (e.g., Security+ CE, CCNA-Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, or equivalent). Vantor is seeking an experienced Cyber Operations Capabilities Developer to build advanced offensive cyber tooling in support of mission-critical operations. This role is focused on developing low-level, high-performance capabilities used in real-world environments.

This is a highly technical position suited for engineers with deep hands-on experience in systems programming, reverse engineering, and offensive capability development. Candidates should be comfortable working across the full lifecycle—from research and development to operational deployment.

What You’ll Do

  • Applies security and cryptography expertise throughout the Systems Engineering lifecycle to develop and successfully certify National Security systems on time, within budget, and with low residual risk.
  • Supports the design, development, and test of high-assurance security solutions for Defense and Intelligence community customers.
  • Develops Concepts of Operations (CONOPS), decomposing and synthesizing security requirements, verifying security features, supporting security architecture development and analysis, and assisting with design and security test planning and execution.
  • Supports NSA certification activities, secure networking integration, and embedded platform security for Type-1 cryptographic communication systems.
  • Serves as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) and Systems Lead for Information Assurance, Security, and Cryptography.
  • Travels up to 10%.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain US Security Clearances.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline; Master’s degree highly desirable.
  • Active DoD security clearance required (SECRET minimum).
  • 12+ years of Systems Engineering experience supporting Information Assurance systems or related products.
  • Complete understanding of the Systems Engineering lifecycle from concept through test, including architecture development, functional analysis, requirements allocation & traceability, trade studies, system synthesis, and integration.
  • Experience planning, developing, and executing verification activities for security features and system-level functionality.
  • Hands-on system integration and test (I&T) experience for complex embedded or networked systems.
  • Experience authoring and reviewing artifacts for formal design reviews.
  • Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) experience.
  • Proven track record in the architecture, design, analysis, integration, and test of NSA Type-1 certified or NSA-approved systems or equipment.
  • Experience with security verification test planning and execution.
  • Familiarity with the NSA Type-1 certification lifecycle, including interactions with NSA technical evaluators.
  • Experience supporting NSA security Certification & Verification activities, including evidence production, test event support, and closure of certification findings.
  • Familiarity with NSA certification artifacts and deliverables (multiple programs highly desirable).
  • Exceptional security architecture development skills, including ability to make and defend complex security trade-offs in high-assurance systems.
  • Working knowledge of Type-1, Suite A, Suite B, and Commercial cryptographic algorithms (symmetric and asymmetric).
  • Knowledge of Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), TLS, and certificate/key management.
  • Understanding of key management systems including EKMS and KMI as applied to End Cryptographic Units (ECUs).
  • Experience with secure networking protocols, red/black interface design, and embedded Linux development environments for cryptographic devices.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to coordinate efforts across teams, influence decisions, resolve issues, and effectively communicate change.

Preferred Additional Skills

  • Experience with cybersecurity compliance and the Risk Management Framework (RMF).
  • Cybersecurity certifications (e.g., CISSP).
  • Advanced MBSE experience is strongly desirable.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance.

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $104,500 - $193,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
