The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) organization is seeking an Experienced/Senior and Dynamics Engineer to support tactical aircraft programs in Hazelwood, MO.

As a member of the BDS Air Dominance Loads & Dynamics (L&D) Capability Team, you will be part of a core engineering team directly supporting production and development programs including F-15, F/A-18, T-7A, MQ-25, and proprietary programs. The L&D team is looking for individuals with experience in flight vehicle structural dynamics, including aeroacoustics, buffet, vibration, and shock. Position commensurate with experience level.

Position Responsibilities

Lead in developing air vehicle environments for vibrations, shock, and/or acoustic noise
Collaborate with the airframe & subsystems design and analysis engineers to generate integrated models for flight vehicle analysis consistent with a Model Based Engineering (MBE) environment
Perform analysis for buffet, aeroacoustics, and vibration to support air vehicle design and stores integration
Define flight envelopes and operational limits based on analysis and/or test results
Develop flight test and ground test plans
Execute wind tunnel, ground, and/or flight test programs by the development of test requirements, providing data for pre-test analysis, monitoring testing, data analysis and documenting results, in order to support design and verification of vehicle and components
Review and approve airframe and subsystem hardware packages for flight worthiness and to ensure the air vehicle meets the service environment
Onsite support for hardware vendor qualification tests, including troubleshooting and approving test plan changes
Provide data to support the definition and documentation of structural design requirements for the service life of the product, to ensure company, customer and regulatory requirements are met
Present load and/or dynamic issues to management and customers during program level reviews and other technical meetings

Basic Qualifications (Required Skill/Experience)

Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
5 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience
Strong understanding of structural dynamics, including dynamic response of structures and vibration analysis
Proficiency in structural analysis software, such as NASTRAN

Preferred Qualifications

Level 4: 9 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience
Active U.S. Secret Clearance
Experience leading teams and/or projects
Proficiency in one or more higher-level programming languages such as Python, Fortran, MATLAB, or similar

Job Description

Ultra Maritime is searching for a highly motivated and detail oriented Systems Engineer to support the development of Radar systems. Working closely with RF, Mechanical, Electrical, and Software Engineers, the Systems Engineer will guide the development of the Radar System from initial design, through finalization of the design, and finally through the integration and test events. The Systems Engineer is expected to provide system level trade-space assessments of approaches working with the Project Engineer to determine the benefit trade-offs. At Ultra Maritime, the Systems Engineer will have the opportunity to guide the development and selection of key technologies for the Navy and will have the opportunity to work with complex software algorithms and cutting-edge digital signal processing hardware. The Systems Engineer will have the opportunity to contribute to key strategic approaches for future proposals, IR&D, and additional development activities.

Primary Experience:

Strong attention to detail and work ethic.

You will run state of the art signature prediction codes, like Xpatch and SENTRi on airborne and ground-based vehicle models to generate highly accurate signature models. You will also create custom signature prediction tools and perform special analyses in support of critical customer mission areas. This job offers a unique ability to collaborate directly with the creators of industry standard tools such as Xpatch as well as others (SENTRi, etc.). We are looking for a qualified candidate to bring technical excellence, leadership, entrepreneurship, and creativity to our programs. MANTECH seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Naval Architect. The candidate must be located within a commutable distance to Washington DC to allow for periodic on-site collaboration.

In this role, you will apply your expertise in naval architecture and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) to support the design, analysis, and optimization of hovercraft, ships, and other maritime systems. This position plays a critical part in ensuring performance, efficiency, and safety across a variety of naval platforms.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Performing a wide variety of naval architecture design and analysis activities related to hovercraft, ships, boats and other marine systems in support of MANTECH’s military and commercial customers.
Performing computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and finite element analyses (FEA) to assess system performance characteristics assessments, validate system adequacy, and optimize system design.
Working collaboratively with goal-oriented project teams, including other engineers, program managers, and CAD designers to validate design assumptions, refine system-level performance, and develop project deliverables.
Manages task requirements and work execution timelines through development of Plans of Action and Milestones (POA&Ms) with minimal guidance from supervisor.
Documenting technical findings in well-organized and comprehensive reports and presenting results to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Naval Architecture, Ocean Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field
3+ years of experience in naval architecture with a focus on CFD applications
Proficiency in CFD software such as Star-CCM+, ANSYS Fluent, OpenFOAM, or similar tools, and in FEA software such as Femap, NASTRAN, ANSYS or similar.
Strong understanding of fluid mechanics, hydrodynamics, and maritime systems
Experience with CAD and 3D modeling tools
Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical documentation and presentations
Ability to utilize spreadsheets to program first-principle and empirical design equations. Ability to generate high-quality design and analysis reports as well as the ability to interpret experimental data and validate simulation results.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with model testing, sea trials, or hydrodynamic test facilities
Familiarity with U.S. Navy ship design standards and practices
Experience with programming or scripting (Python, MATLAB) for automation and post-processing
Experience working with composite materials, including basic understanding of materials and fabrication, and development of fabrication layup details and ply tables
