Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Principal / Sr Principal Software Test Engineer. This position will be located in Roy, UT or Huntsville, AL, or Bellevue, NE and will support the Sentinel Program.

Designs, develops, documents, tests and debugs applications software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions. Conducts multidisciplinary research and collaborates with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software. Determines computer user needs; analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls; prepares operating instructions; designs and develops compilers and assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems. Ensures software standards are met.

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.

Basic Qualifications

  • T03 Principal Software Test Engineer- Bachelors in Science with 5 years of experience, Masters in Science with 3 years of experience, PhD with 1 years of experience or 04 additional years in lieu of a degree
  • T04 Sr. Principal Software Test Engineer- Bachelors in Science with 8 years of experience, Masters in Science with 6 years of experience, PhD with 4 years of experience or 04 additional years in lieu of a degree

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Produce, document, and present ad-hoc or standard (weekly, monthly, quarterly) reports with accompanying visualizations and analyses to internal and external customers, with an ability to use lay terminology to communicate performance results and trends.
  • Create reports (standard, ad-hoc, etc.) and visualizations from various data sources by querying database repositories/software and leveraging analytical tools: SSMS/VBA, Power BI, Excel, Access, and database user interface.
  • Leverage Power BI to develop and improve dashboards/reports incorporating both statistics and visualizations.
  • Support internal and external customers by combining both in-house and third-party data sources, as well as industry benchmarks and best practices, into actionable insights.
  • Collaborate with clients, account/project managers, data analysts, and other SGS stakeholders to demonstrate program outcomes and articulate strategic recommendations to address client challenges.
  • Supports data integrity, ensures reporting accuracy, and enables the optimization of reporting processes.
  • Participates in and supports the organization’s quality programs and the underlying tools/protocols that support them.
  • Test prototype software and participate in the approval and release process for new software.
  • Collaborate with technical staff to optimize/standardize data ingest, database tools, and reporting software.
  • Work with key stakeholders to develop and maintain data standards and common data elements for data collection.
  • Supports the documentation of processes in the form of Work Instructions or SOPs.
  • Answer technical and procedural questions for less experienced team members.
  • Provide peer-review and quality reviews of analytic tools & reporting created or modified by other members of the Analytics group.

Qualifications

Education

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
  • Preferred: Bachelor of Science in a related field (i.e. Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, or similar discipline)
  • Preferred: Master’s degree in a data, analytics, or healthcare-related field from an accredited college or university

Experience

Job Description:

The Software Engineer will be responsible for design, development, and implementation of immediate updates and refactoring of an existing Flight Software (FSW) adaptor to accommodate multiple vendors/suppliers of Space Vehicle (SV) Optical Communications Terminals (OCTs).

Essential Functions:

  • Lead the design, development, implementation, and testing of updated FSW written in C++ in an embedded Linux environment.
  • Understand the basics of OCT operations, scheduling of peer-to-peer communication contacts, link establishment, and pointing vectors relative to SV orbital motion.
  • Develop and maintain an embedded Linux-based code baseline, DevOps pipeline, configuration management, and documentation.
  • Update and refactor existing integration and test procedures to cover new vendors/suppliers, and complete integration with the larger SV software baseline.
  • Execute Formal Qualification Testing (FQT) according to refactored FSW requirements levied on the OCT software adaptor.
  • Update Python scripts for simulation and test used for integration and FQT.
  • Interact with FSW leadership in daily standups, understanding cooperatively created development and testing schedules, and working with other program FSW engineers to resolve discovered issues.
  • Collaborate with OCT vendors/suppliers and L3Harris Systems Engineers to ensure seamless integration with hardware components.
  • Develop and maintain software documentation, including design specifications, user manuals, and testing procedures.
  • Debug and troubleshoot software issues, providing timely resolutions to ensure product quality and reliability.
  • Optimize software performance and memory usage to meet product requirements.
  • Participate in code reviews to maintain high-quality code standards and best practices.
  • Stay up to date with the latest industry trends and technologies to continuously improve our software development processes.

Qualifications:

Role Summary/Purpose:

Synchrony is seeking a Technical Staff Security Engineer to lead the design, engineering, and rollout of next-generation Perimeter Defense capabilities across a large-scale enterprise environment - supporting a major migration to AWS and Azure. This person is responsible for the full lifecycle of delivering new security capabilities: translating security and network architecture requirements into engineered solutions, automating deployments through infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD, validating controls, and operationalizing them with documentation, monitoring, and continuous improvement.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on security engineer with deep cloud and network security expertise , strong automation skills (Terraform, Python, APIs), and practical experience with perimeter technologies such as Palo Alto firewalls, Zscaler proxy, IDS/IPS, and DDoS mitigation. You will collaborate closely with Cloud Security, Network Engineering, and Security Architecture teams, act as a technical leader/mentor, and drive secure-by-design outcomes that enable business velocity while strengthening enterprise resilience.

  • Lead network security efforts related to migration to AWS and Azure Public Cloud
  • Automate security capabilities enabling the migration to the Public Cloud
  • Design, implement, and maintain Perimeter Defense solutions in a large-scale enterprise environment

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • 7+ years of experience in technical security engineering with a focus on Perimeter Defense
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cyber Security, or related field or equivalent experience.
  • Deep working knowledge and experience with Cloud technology including AWS, and Azure to a lesser extent.
  • Proven automation skills using Terraform, Python, and API calls, to automate manual tasks in the deployment of security solutions and configurations during the company’s Public Cloud migration.
  • Hands-on experience managing Infrastructure as code (IaC) using Terraform, CloudFormation etc.
  • Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines such as Jenkins, CloudBees, GitLab etc. to enable automation and orchestration of security configuration.
  • Deep knowledge of code repositories such as Bitbucket, Git etc., having experience with version control, collaboration, code review and integration.
  • Working knowledge of Perimeter Defense technologies such as Palo Alto Firewalls, zScaler Proxy, IDS/IPS, and DDoS mitigation systems.
  • Industry certifications such as CISSP, CISM, and CCNP are highly desirable.

Required Qualifications:

  • 7-10 years hands on experience building and managing comprehensive data infrastructure serving a wide base of constituents focusing on Management Reporting, Strategy and Analysis, and Operational Performance Management.

  • Strong SQL skills and experience working with large datasets in enterprise environments.

We are looking for an Embedded Software Developer - System Validation to own and operate two hardware-in-the-loop (HITL) systems. This role sits at the intersection of embedded software, FPGA, and CI/CD automation.   • Experience using C# (and/or Lab Windows CVI or Java).
  • Experience with use of RF test instruments such as (but not limited to) Oscilloscope, Signal Generator, Spectrum Analyzer, Network Analyzer, etc.
  • Familiarity with reading schematics and interpreting electrical one-lines.
