Position Summary

Ultra Maritime is searching for a highly motivated and detail oriented Principal Systems Engineer to support the development of Sonobuoy and related systems. Working closely with RF, Mechanical, Electrical, Acoustic, and Software Engineers, the Principal Systems Engineer will guide the development of the system through all parts of the engineering life cycle. The Principal Systems Engineer is expected to provide system level trade-space assessments of approaches working with the Project Engineer to determine the benefit trade-offs. At Ultra Maritime, the Principal Systems Engineer will have the opportunity to guide the development and selection of key technologies for the Navy and will have the opportunity to work with complex software algorithms and digital signal processing hardware. The Principal Systems Engineer will have the opportunity to contribute to key strategic approaches for future proposals, IR&D, and additional development activities.
Job Description

Primary Skills:

  • Strong attention to detail and work ethic.
  • Knowledge of proper systems engineering discipline and rigor required for disciplined systems development.
  • Significant experience with sonar systems or similar signal processing systems.
  • Experience and knowledge of algorithms used for signal processing.
  • Experience planning, reviewing, and executing integration and test events for combined hardware and software systems
  • Ability to document and specify system and subsystem level requirements.
  • Experience working with a team to jointly develop a system during all phases of the development lifecycle.
  • Review/provide technical input and cost estimation support.
  • Provide systems engineering leadership to a small group of systems or mixed discipline engineers.
  • Management of requirements through DOORS
  • Experience with MBSE (preferred)
  • Willingness to travel (10%).

What You’ll Do:

Systems Administration & Data Management

  • PDM Leadership: Administer and support Product Data Management (PDM) systems, including user permissions, vault structure, and automated workflow support.
  • Configuration Control: Maintain the integrity of the drawing vault, managing file organization and strict revision management practices.

Summary

The Manager Technical Services and Operations provides leadership and expertise associated with the definition, selection, implementation, and ongoing support for technologies leveraged by Ryder to deliver scalable, highly available computing environments.   • Responsible for the strategy to improve the design, implementation, support and reporting of processes and technologies under their respective discipline.

Job Overview:

  • Lead and mentor multidisciplinary technical teams at APL who are performing design trade studies, requirements analysis, mission modeling, and prototyping of software and hardware for maritime uncrewed systems.
  • Oversee the design, integration, and testing of autonomous and remotely operated maritime vehicles and autonomous control software.

Experience in the use of quality tools such as FMEAs, Design of Experiments, SPC, etc. Works with the manufacturing personnel in order to design product consistent with current processes and their associated capability. Effectively solves design-related problems identified during the fabrication and assembly of product and provides support as appropriate to shop personnel. Prepares appropriate documentation related to design and engineering activities through the application of ANSI:Y14.5 drafting standards which includes geometric tolerancing. Use Windchill/PDM Link to store CAD files and perform change management EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS : Self-starter with the ability to operate well independently Five plus years of design experience in an OEM manufacturing environment Minimum of 3 years’ experience with a parametric based CAD software.
