Job Description The Naval Nuclear Laboratory (NNL) is seeking a highly motivated technical professional to join the Information Systems & Technology organization at the Naval Nuclear Power Training Command (NNPTC) in Charleston, SC. This organization oversees IT operations supporting both classified and unclassified enterprise networks at NNPTC. As a System Administrator, you will play a critical role in maintaining and advancing the IT infrastructure supporting the training of Naval Nuclear operators. The position requires a broad knowledge of IT operations, including network switches, servers, storage devices, security, and applications. You will work in a technically diverse and dynamic environment, directly contributing to the mission-critical training efforts at NNPTC. Day to day includes, but is not limited to: Install, configure, administer, and troubleshoot network infrastructure and equipment. Route and test new network cables. Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair networked devices, including clients, printers, switches, servers, and storage devices. Ensure implementation of all applicable security requirements for associated equipment. Manage and prioritize multiple tasks/projects while adapting to dynamic work requirements. Collaborate within the organization and across the site to integrate work responsibilities. Participate in projects that implement infrastructure, application, or system solutions, ensuring timely delivery of functional, technical, and security requirements. Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience. Preferred Skills Knowledge of Cisco network hardware, configurations, and infrastructure (CCNA/CCNP certification preferred). CompTIA certifications (A+, Network+, Security+). Experience with installation, termination, and troubleshooting of copper and fiber optic cabling. Virtual machine management experience. Vulnerability management expertise. Experience creating and maintaining scripts (e.g., PowerShell). Strong interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills. Positive attitude and demonstrated ability to thrive in team environments. Proven troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Strong work ethic and a desire for continuous learning. Ability to interface effectively across multiple sites. Project management experience is a plus.
