What You’ll Do:
Responsible for coordinating and overseeing the maintenance, repair and safe operations of all the engineering needs for assigned vessels and equipment
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop repair specifications and manage the repair of the vessels by overseeing all activities directly related to the repairs.
• Liaison with the vessel Chief Engineer/Captain on required maintenance needs.
• Manage and negotiate contractor selection, contract management and contractors work by setting up service to vessels, ensuring regulatory inspections are scheduled timely and controlling expenditures within designated projects.
• Monitor and coordinate vessel certification inspections with external and internal customers.
• Regularly attend vessels during times of out of service or dry-docking. Work with warehouse personnel requesting fleet spare equipment be dispatched to support the upkeep of the vessels.
• Create PO’s/WO’s, review and close outstanding maintenance jobs, review/approve requisitions and review vessel reports.
• Work with buyers to assist in the purchasing of supplies. Complete POs of work performed, adjust and update financial information to allow for payment matching to the invoice.
• Develop maintenance and repair cost analysis sheets and monitor the budget. Assist in the development and modification of preventative maintenance plans for vessel equipment.
• Ensure the engineering procedures and policies are periodically reviewed, modified and implemented.
Qualifications
Education & Credentials:
• Bachelor’s degree in marine engineering or a related field; 10+ years in an engineering related field may be substituted in lieu of the educational requirements.
• USCG License and/or Maritime Academy graduate preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in Marine Engineering, sailing onboard a vessel.
• Valid driver’s license, passport, and TWIC card.
Experience:
Candidates need to meet at least 1 of the following qualifications:
• Possess a minimum of three years’ experience as a Port Engineer having managed and negotiated at least two shipyard dry-docking availabilities with a value greater than $3 Million. Experience gained while employed by a shipyard or while serving active duty in the military may be applicable towards meeting this requirement if the duties and responsibilities of the positions are substantially the same as a Port Engineer. This experience shall demonstrate their ability to effectively manage and negotiate complex projects such as shipyard dry dock overhauls and other types of repairs.
• Possess a minimum of four years’ experience serving aboard Government or commercial ocean-going ships of not less than 4,000 HP as either a Chief Engineer or a First Assistant Engineer. This experience shall demonstrate effective management of maintenance and repair of ocean-going ships.
• A combination of education and experience gained while in the performance of duties that clearly demonstrate effective management of maintenance and repair of ocean-going ships.
Technical Skills:
• Proficient in Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Outlook and Word.
• Knowledgeable of NS-5 ship management software, computer technology and processes preferred.
Working Conditions:
Works both inside an office environment and outside in conditions of both high and low temperatures. May be exposed to odors, dust, dirt, mechanical hazards, high noise levels and potentially dangerous equipment. Must be able to crouch and stoop to get into areas with restricted headroom and be able to climb ladders. The ICT Engineer will play a key role in planning, designing, and implementing network infrastructure, communications technologies, and intelligent building systems. This role requires a strong technical foundation in structured cabling, network systems, wireless technologies, and industry standards, with the ability to collaborate across engineering, field installation, and client teams. Principal Duties/Responsibilities:
Extensive travel required. (Local, National, International).
Ensures all assets are properly identified, labeled, maintained, and utilized.
Implements asset management software and tools for efficient tracking and reporting.
Develops and oversees maintenance schedules for industrial equipment ensuring timely repairs and upkeep.
Monitors asset performance and reliability and identifies areas for improvement.
Identifies and maintains Bill of Materials (BOM) for assets.
Assists in budgeting for asset procurement, maintenance, and replacement.
Conducts cost-benefit analyses for new asset acquisitions.
Ensures all industrial assets comply with relevant safety and regulatory standards.
Implements safety protocols and training related to asset usage.
Identifies opportunities to improve the efficiency and productivity of assets, including a review of existing preventative maintenance plans for assets.
Evaluates and recommends innovative technologies or upgrades to enhance asset performance.
Manages relationships with equipment vendors and service providers.
Collects and analyzes data on asset performance and utilization to inform decision-making and strategic planning.
Develops, updates and provides training to staff on the proper use and maintenance of industrial assets and/or CMMS or EAM application.
Monitors and oversees project timelines, budgets, and deliverables, which may also include shutdown activities.
Promotes and implements energy-efficient technologies and sustainable asset management practices.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities (KSAs), & Competencies:
Essential KSAs:
Associate Degree required in a technical field with 1-3 years of industrial asset experience and/or 5 – 10 years as a machine repair technician, or equivalent combination of both.
Familiar with industrial manufacturing environment.
Electrical/mechanical aptitude.
Proficiency with computers, maintenance systems, and applications including Microsoft Office.
Excellent verbal communication, facilitation, and presentation skills.
