Description

Leidos currently has an opening for a Lead Embedded Software Engineer to provide technical firmware engineering expertise and firmware/embedded project management and coordination supporting the design, development and integration of Uncrewed Underwater Vehicle (UUV) programs that address existing and emerging maritime missions of national importance for a broad range of customers across multiple Department of Defense agencies. This position is located at our Lynnwood, WA office.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide technical firmware/embedded leadership on small teams from project inception to project delivery
  • Coordinate with the project manager, customers, and other functional leads to develop schedules and budgets, allocate resources, and track and monitor progress
  • Engage firmware/embedded engineers as a mentor for technical, communication, and executive skills on the team
  • Analyze firmware requirements and decompose into derived functional firmware requirements for a team to execute
  • Design embedded architectures for autonomous systems and vehicles
  • Develop features for a software project based on derived firmware requirements and work with a team of engineers to estimate effort for these features
  • Arbitrate challenging technical decisions with engineers by listening, understanding, and driving towards the best solution to meet the project requirements
  • Work with software project leads to develop consistent processes and spearhead changes and innovation for our software and firmware development processes and methodologies
  • Provide guidance and support through the testing and evaluation process to ensure delivery of a high-quality product

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with 8-12 years of prior relevant experience or Master’s degree with 6-10 years of prior relevant experience
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance, requires US Citizenship
  • Advanced language skills in C/C++ within Linux and embedded environments
  • Expertise in developing embedded solutions and architecture on the STM32 family of microcontrollers
  • Expertise working with I2C, SPI, UART, CAN Bus, and similar interfaces on embedded systems
  • An eagerness to lead and mentor a group of senior and junior developers towards a successful product delivery
  • Familiarity and basic understanding of Software Design Patterns
  • Familiarity with Unified Modeling Language (UML) tools such as Cameo or Magic Draw
  • Experience with Agile-based methodologies using the Atlassian tool suite (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket) or similar tools
  • Ability to communicate and share ideas, concepts, designs, and technical plans with a team of engineers
  • Constant integrity in working with our employees and customers.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Range of experience in languages such as C/C++, Python, and others
  • Experience with virtualized development and production environments (VMware, Docker, etc.)
  • Experience with system autonomy software in C++ or other languages
  • Experience with testing code across multiple projects
  • Ability to identify and resolve code defects in new and legacy code
  • Background with the design, development, integration, and test of autonomous or remotely operated undersea vehicle systems
  • Detailed understanding of Thread safe/Inter-thread communications.

Description

The Human Health and Performance Contract supporting NASA at the Johnson Space Center is seeking an experienced Engineer to lead fire safety integration for the Lunar Landing System in Houston, Texas.

What You’ll Do

You will play a significant role to help Human Landing Systems (HLS) ensure a robust fire safety approach for the use of its flight hardware in an elevated oxygen environment.  You will act as the primary integration leader between the HLS Program and HLS Crew Compartment Office, test project management/test execution, and commercial providers. In this integration role, you will perform integration and provide integration leadership for fire safety testing, serve as an interface to commercial providers, collaborate with multiple discipline leads and management, and lead resolution of significant technical issues that require integration across multiple disciplines and organizations.  You will apply extensive experience in engineering integration, testing, fire safety, communication, and leadership to help HLS chart a successful path forward to its certification milestones.

What you Bring

You bring extensive engineering leadership experience across multiple disciplines and experience in fire and material combustion test planning and integration.  You use your integration experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals, negotiate within HLS and its commercial providers, integrate with other Programs to support integrated projects, and perform cross-program integration to help HLS Program ensure success of its fire safety efforts. These HLS efforts include material selection/control, preventing faults that lead to fires, and fire detection and mitigation.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide integration leadership of, and high level planning for, large-scale fire testing.
  • Serve as the primary HLS interface on fire safety matters with the fire testing project manager and project engineers and also as interface to commercial providers regarding test planning.
  • Collaborate closely with HLS Chief Engineer in order to provide influence/directional guidance to fire test planning and execution for both internal NASA tests and commercial partner tests.
  • Collaborate with fire, materials and other expert discipline leads, program offices, and cross-program stakeholders on engineering and operations aspects of operating in a high oxygen environment.
  • Demonstrate strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills, with enthusiasm for diving deep into technical fire safety issues and driving effective solutions.
  • Lead resolution of significant technical issues and risks requiring integration across multiple technical disciplines and organizations.
  • Coordinate with NASA fire safety subject-matter experts and align Moon-to-Mars efforts to enable safe missions in elevated oxygen environments.
  • Provide strategic recommendations to program management on balancing fire safety approaches throughout the program lifecycle.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or relevant technical degree
  • Minimum 15 years experience in engineering and integration roles
  • Minimum 5 years experience with test planning, integration and execution
  • Project engineering and/or System Engineering/Integration experience
  • Experience in selection and control of materials, implementation of safety controls, and fire detection/risk mitigation for space vehicle oxygen environment
  • Demonstrated experience in engineering integration leadership
  • Demonstrated experience showing self-motivation and proactivity in communicating and integrating with others without a lot of hands-on direction
  • Demonstrated experience working within a team environment, where the team is distributed across multiple NASA centers
  • Demonstrated experience in identifying integration concerns and gaps in information and communicating concerns to leadership in a diplomatic manner
  • Demonstrated experience performing cross-program integration with multiple people for various purposes in parallel
  • Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written

Job Summary and Qualifications

GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: The primary responsibilities of the Division Director of Laboratory Services:

  • Coordinates with Service Line leadership to provide assessment and consulting services to Division and Facility leadership for HCA facilities.
  • Provides consultative services to other HBP service lines, as needed
  • Directs activities in one or more HCA Hospitals on matters related to the provision of quality, efficient and cost effective services
  • With an emphasis on collaboration, implements strategies and tactics to promote the development of team members
  • Executes operational assessments as directed
  • Manages multiple engagements concurrently, including: management of division laboratory activities, on site interviews, current state process improvement, utilization analysis, operating model implementations, current state/future gap analysis, financial analysis and budgeting, and billing analyses.
  • Knowledgeable and capable of working with key stakeholder groups to coordinate activities including other Service Line resources, Division leadership, medical director (pathology), Performance Improvement, laboratory leaders, Supply Chain, etc.
  • Develops and maintains strong working relationships with other operating groups within HCA such as IT&S, Supply Chain, etc.
  • Communicate regularly as required, (weekly, biweekly or monthly) for operating reports MORs with the Service Line leadership, Division Presidents, Division CFOs and the Divisions’ hospitals’ CEOs.
  • Ensure all internal approvals prior to executing recommendations.

DUTIES INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Supports the Laboratory Service Line to execute on laboratory service opportunities in assigned division including:
  1. Implementation of laboratory test (ordering), facility test menu, and equipment platform formularies, as well as other Service Line objectives
  2. Coordination/centralization of laboratory services within geographic region,
  3. Optimization of market based contracting and adherence to HPG/HCA contracts,
  4. Reference testing vendor selection and utilization,
  5. Assessment of client and commercial outreach business profitability
  6. Billing compliance and charge capture
  7. Assists in implementing best practices regarding laboratory quality and operations
  8. Ensures facility laboratory readiness for ongoing successful regulatory accreditation.
  • Works collaboratively with all levels of HCA, Service Lines, Divisions, and Hospital leadership to assess and identify options.
  • Thrives in a matrixed environment
  • Utilizes sophisticated processes and systems to gather and analyze critical information required to conduct a thorough assessment and develop comprehensive recommendations.

  • Understands the critical nature of laboratory services that are vital to the operations of HCA Hospitals and that failure to perform the duties of this position and result in the disruption and delay of vital patient care services.
  • Leads the development and training of a team of high functioning laboratory directors who can assist in the execution of the duties delineated herein
  • Continually monitors and stays abreast of legislative and regulatory changes affecting laboratory services.
  • Takes initiative to develop steps and processes in an effort to proactively identify areas of opportunity.
  • Interacts with Physician leadership to ensure practice business needs are met and performance is sustainable.
  • Communicates the Laboratory Services suite of services effectively throughout all levels of the organization and represents the Service Line in professional manner.
  • Executes the strategic direction of the Service Line, Division, and Hospitals’ CEOs.
  • Interacts on a regular basis with Division and facility leadership to ensure their services and clinical operations needs are met: o Works with Service Line and Division Leadership assess ability of operating models or partnerships to meet HCA enterprise financial and operational goals.
  • Manages financial performance to budget and prior period trends and understands causes of variances.
  • Resolving any clinical quality/operational/financial issues in a timely manner.
  • Keeps lines of communication open between Division Leadership and the Service Line
  • Recommends corrective action as required to eliminate negative variances.
  • Meets regularly with direct reports to ensure their effective involvement in Service Line, division and facility strategic initiatives.
What qualifications you will need:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology or Laboratory Science is required.
  • Master’s or above Degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, other applicable field is preferred.
  • Professional organization association required.
  • Clinical laboratory experience required.
  • Minimum of 5- years’ experience in laboratory, at a director level and/or laboratory consulting.

Responsibilities:

The HVAC Branch Manager leads technicians who install, repair, and maintain HVAC and refrigeration systems for commercial customers. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the Equipment related Problem Solving program.
  • Leads and manages, in collaboration with all colleagues in his sector, the failure analysis program for equipment problems.

  • Informs the Storeroom and Procurement Supervisor when inventory changes are warranted based on analysis of usage, failures, or changes in job frequency.
  • Assists employees and engineers in analyzing the reliability of proposed equipment changes.
  • Responsible for reviewing new equipment purchase specifications for reliability and maintainability.
  • Makes specific recommendations to improve machine performance and reliability based on analysis of process and failure data.
  • Performs statistical analysis on machine failure data and work order closeout codes to determine if adjustments to the technical maintenance strategy are warranted.
  • Provides technical assistance to maintenance supervisors, planners, and maintenance employees in the form of specific technical data on system configuration and performance as a backup for the Maintenance Specialist.
  • Initiates and leads risk-based methodologies such as Equipment/System Criticality Analysis (CA), Failure Modes, Effects, and Criticality Analysis (FMECA), and Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM).
  • Defines long-term asset reliability roadmaps and maturity assessments.
  • Supports CapEx decisions evaluating total cost of ownership of assets (LCAA-Lifestyle Cost Analysis).

  • Prior experience as a Navy Engineman, Electrician or Electronics Technician with Improved Navy Lighterage System (INLS), Maritime Prepositioning Force Utility Boat (MPFUB), Lighter Amphibious Resupply Cargo (LARC), Combat Rubber Raiding Craft (CRRC) or Amphibious Bulk Liquid Transfer System (ABLTS).
  • Familiarity with CAT C18 & C4.4, John Deere 6081, Cummins QSM-11, Evinrude Outboard Engines, Hamilton and Wartsila Waterjets, hydraulic and electrical systems.
  • Experience with 460 and 115 Vac distribution systems, 24 Vdc, diesel engine electronic control systems and programmable logic controllers.
  • Experience performing preventive and corrective maintenance and preservation of Navy small craft.
  • Military Instructor certification.

POSITION SUMMARY AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides technical expertise, project management, technical guidance and direction in the implementation and operation of application systems used for financial, clinical, business, and administrative systems.
