Required Education & Experience

Our division currently has an exciting opportunity for a Software Engineer to perform design, development, and hardware/software integration in Arlington, VA for the Electronic Warfare Division. Our division primarily focuses on research & development and advanced prototyping, transforming state of the art signal processing algorithms into real-time software systems.

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing real-time signal processing algorithms on GPUs.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Contributing to design and development of advanced systems as a part of multi-disciplinary teams.  These teams are made up of other software team members and subject matter experts from the areas of systems engineering, hardware, firmware, machine learning, RF front end design, and signal processing.
  • Achieving key project/program objectives and deliverables for entire projects or processes spanning multiple technical areas and independently managing large projects or processes
  • A solid understanding of GPU programming and parallel computing architectures
  • Understanding signal processing algorithms written in MATLAB
  • Parallelization of existing algorithms
  • Decomposing complex signal processing chains into discrete components and kernels
  • Hand crafting bespoke CUDA kernels for high performance
  • Designing and implementing multi-threaded software architectures
  • Designing, implementing, and testing high speed data transfer / Latency codes
  • Designing, implementing, and testing real-time C/C++ software for multi-core systems running Linux or a real-time operating systems, such as VxWorks
  • Build software products that utilize third party mathematics and communication libraries
  • Interface communication standards / protocols such as TCP/IP, UDP, and DDS
  • Work with Linux operating system as well as experience with real-time operating systems
  • Designing, implementing, and testing software to configure and control RF hardware devices

The successful candidate will have the following education/experience:

Description

The Human Health and Performance Contract supporting NASA at the Johnson Space Center is seeking an experienced Engineer to lead fire safety integration for the Lunar Landing System in Houston, Texas.

What You’ll Do

You will play a significant role to help Human Landing Systems (HLS) ensure a robust fire safety approach for the use of its flight hardware in an elevated oxygen environment.  You will act as the primary integration leader between the HLS Program and HLS Crew Compartment Office, test project management/test execution, and commercial providers. In this integration role, you will perform integration and provide integration leadership for fire safety testing, serve as an interface to commercial providers, collaborate with multiple discipline leads and management, and lead resolution of significant technical issues that require integration across multiple disciplines and organizations.  You will apply extensive experience in engineering integration, testing, fire safety, communication, and leadership to help HLS chart a successful path forward to its certification milestones.

What you Bring

You bring extensive engineering leadership experience across multiple disciplines and experience in fire and material combustion test planning and integration.  You use your integration experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals, negotiate within HLS and its commercial providers, integrate with other Programs to support integrated projects, and perform cross-program integration to help HLS Program ensure success of its fire safety efforts. These HLS efforts include material selection/control, preventing faults that lead to fires, and fire detection and mitigation.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide integration leadership of, and high level planning for, large-scale fire testing.
  • Serve as the primary HLS interface on fire safety matters with the fire testing project manager and project engineers and also as interface to commercial providers regarding test planning.
  • Collaborate closely with HLS Chief Engineer in order to provide influence/directional guidance to fire test planning and execution for both internal NASA tests and commercial partner tests.
  • Collaborate with fire, materials and other expert discipline leads, program offices, and cross-program stakeholders on engineering and operations aspects of operating in a high oxygen environment.
  • Demonstrate strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills, with enthusiasm for diving deep into technical fire safety issues and driving effective solutions.
  • Lead resolution of significant technical issues and risks requiring integration across multiple technical disciplines and organizations.
  • Coordinate with NASA fire safety subject-matter experts and align Moon-to-Mars efforts to enable safe missions in elevated oxygen environments.
  • Provide strategic recommendations to program management on balancing fire safety approaches throughout the program lifecycle.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or relevant technical degree
  • Minimum 15 years experience in engineering and integration roles
  • Minimum 5 years experience with test planning, integration and execution
  • Project engineering and/or System Engineering/Integration experience
  • Experience in selection and control of materials, implementation of safety controls, and fire detection/risk mitigation for space vehicle oxygen environment
  • Demonstrated experience in engineering integration leadership
  • Demonstrated experience showing self-motivation and proactivity in communicating and integrating with others without a lot of hands-on direction
  • Demonstrated experience working within a team environment, where the team is distributed across multiple NASA centers

The Geospatial Analyst Solutions Directorate, part of the National Solutions Business Area, is seeking a Configuration Management (CM) Specialist for the Chinook program.

A successful candidate will have experience with Agile methodologies as well as the ability to participate in release planning events, daily scrums, and other technical discussions as needed. This role will support all activities owned by the CM team including documentation, software management, architecture diagrams, cloud cost control methodologies and reporting, and other projects while requiring significant collaboration with other teams, program management, and customer stakeholders.

The CM Specialist will be responsible for CM of developmental and operational systems. Works on developmental and operational teams to create and maintain configuration baselines (development, test, production, etc.) supporting developmental and operational systems. Uses or recommends automated CM tools to implement CM policies and procedures. Develops or modifies CM plans, policies, and procedures tailored to the complexity and scope of the developmental or operational system. Implements CM discipline for the entire life cycle of systems from initial requirements/capabilities baselines to system end-of-life. Performs change control and configuration audits.

Clearance Level Required:

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for managing and maintaining program baseline documentation (CDRLs and non-CDRLs) and the associated approval and delivery processes.
  • Track and enforce configuration management policy for all hardware and software. Must be familiar with Jira.
  • Conduct inventory requirements as set by the contract and customer annually and quarterly.
  • Develop and update CM Plans and provide input/review to other team members.
  • Maintain Software/Hardware Management Plan and procedures.
  • Maintain inventory of GOTS, COTS licenses and hardware.
  • Prepare reports and management information, including impact analysis reports and configuration status reports.
  • Responsible for CM planning including organizing audits of the IT infrastructure.
  • Identifies new configuration items, configuration status accounting, and assists in configuration audits.
  • Host and document Configuration Control Board (CCB) and/or Engineering Review Board (ERB) meetings and develop reports and templates as required.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Requires BS degree and 8-12 years of prior relevant experience or Master’s with 6-10 years of prior relevant experience or 10 years of experience in lieu of degree.
  • 6-8 years’ experience as a Configuration Manager using CM related tools as well as CM databases.

Primary Purpose of Position

Responsible for creating and modifying simulation software logic and dynamic models used at a nuclear power plant in the Main Control Room Simulator, including simulator software maintenance, model minor plant modifications, and enhancements with minimal support. Functions independently and advises Constellation’s Training Department on simulator technology. Coordinate simulator tasks and collaborate across teams as needed.
