Summary of Position

The Facilities Reliability Engineer is responsible for proactive identification, management, and improvement of facilities-related equipment/asset lifecycles through the use of data-driven analysis of machine operation and associated failure modes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide support in the manufacturing of optical fiber with a focus on Facilities Equipment Reliability: HVAC/Chillers/Air Compressors/Process Water systems/Boilers/High Purity Gas Delivery systems, etc.
  • Lead equipment reliability excellence initiatives.
  • Generate and deploy facilities equipment reliability projects to improve overall equipment uptime and effectiveness.
  • Track downtime and abnormally high maintenance costs to prioritize and eliminate frequently failing assets.
  • Participate in the Management of Change process as it relates to design, specification, and commissioning of new and/or modified facilities equipment to ensure it is maintainable and reliable from day one.
  • Lead investigations into facilities equipment failures to identify underlying causes and implement permanent solutions to prevent recurrence.
  • Work closely with Maintenance teams to develop and refine Preventive (PM) and Predictive (PdM) maintenance strategies using predictive tools like vibration analysis, thermography, ultrasonic, and oil analysis.
  • Work will technical and maintenance staff to identify and mitigate recurring facilities equipment breakdown issues through analysis and development of strategies to prevent failure.
  • Maximize production equipment effectiveness, including:
    • Safety for employees operating equipment.
    • Maximizing equipment availability and uptime.
    • Readiness to support strategic business growth.
  • Collaborate regularly with Automation, Engineering, Operations and Maintenance personnel to resolve both short and long term issues.
  • Identify, implement, and/or support continuous improvement (CI) projects/efforts throughout the facility.

The Chief Engineering team is the fully accountable single point technical contact for transmission and driveline products and includes all aspects of product delivery for current production, new product development, or advanced projects. (the “what” and the “when”.)

The Application Engineer will report to the Chief Engineer and will act as the primary owner of the application matrix and interface between the CE group and vehicle team for requirements and delivery of the transmission and driveline products, including assembly plants, and will be the team member responsible for driving to closure in the corporate issue management systems both serial life and product development issues as they arise, working in conjunction with other stakeholders as issue manager on the cross-functional solving team.

As a SRT Transmission & Driveline Application Engineer, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Responsible for supporting the Chief Engineer (CE) in the execution of designated programs

  • Supports the development of high-level Applications Matrix (working with the Design System Engineer) including all interface requirements for given programs for all variants and various vehicle platforms.

  • Ensures all applications fall within the design envelopes of the transmission and driveline products

  • Coordinates packaging studies with each vehicle application to ensure all clearance requirements are met. Leads advanced vehicle adaptation designs studies and freezes

  • Negotiates requirements with vehicle platforms based on product limitations and capabilities

  • Owns the Driveline Technical Specifications (DLTS) and communicates application specific requirements to the team (i.e. max torque, NVH, FE, tire size, FD ratio selection, mass, etc.) in support of completing consensus of requirements on the subsystem and subcomponent technical specifications.

  • Defines and tracks adherence to robust vehicle level and system level/sub-system functional objectives

  • Leads and coordinates the required Virtual Duty Cycle analysis(es) working with Propulsion Systems Virtual PT (Rotational) and Vehicle Loads / Durability team for Structural duty cycle (BCxx)

  • Coordinates design changes to external interfaces that require platform approval. Perform tradeoff studies as required.

  • Develops, manages & communicates external design or assembly issues and change management.

  • Responsible for the review and approval of the Application Checklist for each Change Notice (CN)

  • Coordination of application specific design variants (TCMs, adaptive hardware, dampers, vents, LV & HV wire connections, bracket attachments, etc) including controls & calibration strategies.

  • Represents chief organization on vehicle assembly plant requirements & events (i.e. supports pilot builds, EOL test, VIN marking, build issues, etc.).

  • Drives Layered Audits process across supplier plant(s) to ensure manufacturing / heat-treatment / assembly processes and control plan robustness

  • Leads Build Readiness tasks (instrumentation plan, dyno support)

  • Develops Benchmarking Plan working closely with Chief Engineer on competitive products

  • Coordinates Center of Excellence / Engineering Best Practice assessments of bulletins and engineering response to bulletins working closely with Family Manager and Chief Engineer

Job Description

Ultra Maritime is searching for a highly motivated and detail oriented Systems Engineer to support the development of Radar systems. Working closely with RF, Mechanical, Electrical, and Software Engineers, the Systems Engineer will guide the development of the Radar System from initial design, through finalization of the design, and finally through the integration and test events. The Systems Engineer is expected to provide system level trade-space assessments of approaches working with the Project Engineer to determine the benefit trade-offs. At Ultra Maritime, the Systems Engineer will have the opportunity to guide the development and selection of key technologies for the Navy and will have the opportunity to work with complex software algorithms and cutting-edge digital signal processing hardware. The Systems Engineer will have the opportunity to contribute to key strategic approaches for future proposals, IR&D, and additional development activities.

Primary Experience:

  • Strong attention to detail and work ethic.
  • Knowledge of proper systems engineering discipline and rigor required for disciplined systems development.
  • Significant experience with Radar systems or similar signal processing systems.
  • Experience and knowledge of algorithms used for navigation, periscope detection, discrimination or other parts of traditional Radar signal processing.
  • Laboratory knowledge including setup and use of Linux-based system integration, test, and execution.
  • Experience planning, reviewing, and executing integration and test events for combined hardware and software systems
  • Ability to document and specify system and subsystem level requirements.

  • Update program LRE (Latest Revised Estimate) planners, schedules, and provide Earned Value Management inputs, including variance analysis and corrective action planning.
  • Develop and maintain a historical data set for cost and schedule projections providing inputs to program delivery Baselines
