Position Overview

As a member of the DevOps team, the DevOps Engineer will design, build, and maintain stable, scalable, and efficient infrastructure environments required to deploy enterprise software across internal and external networks. This role leverages people, process, and technology to drive collaboration and innovation throughout the software development, operations, and release lifecycle.

The ideal candidate is a proactive, customer-focused self-starter with a strong troubleshooting mindset and a positive, solutions-oriented attitude.

Key Responsibilities

Infrastructure & Deployment
Design, build, and maintain stable infrastructure environments to support software deployment in cloud and client-hosted environments
Optimize infrastructure to meet project uptime and performance requirements
Implement automated infrastructure capabilities, including backups, security tooling, and monitoring solutions
Manage virtual machines and configurations using VMware, Hyper-V, or similar platforms
Install and configure proprietary, public, and third-party software across development, test, and production environments (includingcustomer environments)
Maintain detailed installation documentation and troubleshoot deployment issues

Kubernetes & Cloud Management
Install and manage Kubernetes clusters (bare metal and cloud-based)
Configure, deploy, and update pods and containers
Manage nodes, storage accounts, and cluster resources
Support provisioning and administration of cloud infrastructure, preferably in AWS

CI/CD & Automation
Build, maintain, and improve CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins or CircleCI
Manage configuration management (CM) automated installation processes
Monitor, troubleshoot, and enhance processes for building, packaging, and deploying software
Identify and implement new tools to improve deployment and monitoring capabilities

Performance & Monitoring
Establish performance baselines and monitor system metrics
Track performance trends and identify product thresholds
Conduct system monitoring, OS patching, and application upgrades
Perform database imports/exports and execute complex SQL queries as needed

Collaboration & Release Management
Coordinate across Sales, Engineering, Support, Configuration Management, and Project Management teams
Support end-to-end software release rollouts to production environments
Maintain software release records for customer sites
Collaborate on architectural solutions for current and future deployments
Provide 24/7 on-call support to meet SLA and uptime commitments

Required Qualifications
3-6+ years of experience designing, deploying, and maintaining on-premises and hosted infrastructure solutions
Experience as a DevOps Engineer in a scalable production environment
Strong understanding of DevOps methodologies within Agile development environments
Experience with Kubernetes and management platforms such as Rancher
Proficiency with Git-based version control (GitHub, Bitbucket, etc.)
Experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, CircleCI, etc.)
Experience with scripting languages such as Python, Bash, PowerShell, Perl, or PHP
Familiarity with programming languages such as Java, Go, JavaScript, or C++
Experience working with APIs (REST, GraphQL, SOAP)
Strong Linux and/or Windows system administration knowledge
Experience provisioning and managing infrastructure in cloud environments (AWS preferred)
Demonstrated experience managing multi-node clusters and performing common maintenance tasks (e.g., IP changes, node updates, storage reconfiguration)
Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills
Ability to independently manage assigned tasks and projects

Description

Leidos is looking for our next TS/SCI‑cleared DevOps Software Engineer to join a high‑energy team building and deploying a cutting‑edge technology stack in support of the DIA‑NMEC (National Media Exploitation Center) DOMEX Technology Platform (DTP). This role is part of a 10‑year program supporting the DOMEX Data Discovery Platform (D3P) Modernization effort, where you’ll contribute to mission‑critical capabilities alongside a collaborative, innovative, and growth‑oriented team.

While the majority of work is performed on‑site at our customer location in Bethesda, MD, we offer a flexible schedule and occasional opportunities for remote work.

What You’ll Do

As a DevOps Software Engineer, you’ll help design, deploy, and maintain a full‑stack, containerized microservices architecture. You’ll also support systems administration, installation, configuration, and the broader adoption of DevOps best practices across cross‑functional engineering teams. In this fast‑paced environment, you’ll collaborate closely with systems engineering, architecture, development, security, operations, and integration teams.

You will work with a multidisciplinary group of developers, integrators, and system administrators to:

  • Deploy, triage, and maintain a production big‑data pipeline built on Kubernetes, Elasticsearch, and Kafka
  • Enhance and maintain CI/CD pipelines and DevOps automation to accelerate development and improve reliability
  • Design and support scalable, redundant infrastructure across physical and virtual environments
  • Use Helm to configure Kubernetes deployments for new features and evolving requirements
  • Partner with Systems Engineers to architect solutions for new capabilities

What You Bring

Primary Responsibilities

  • Performs hands-on software system development from lab to field application
  • Determines computing system requirements
  • Analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls

The Mission

Leidos is seeking a Data Storage Engineer to support the National Digital Exploitation & OSINT Center (NDOC).  This role requires technical expertise in storage engineering, system administration, and operations. This role is responsible for optimizing the configuration of the enterprise storage infrastructure to maximize availability, performance, and capacity.  This role participates in the lifecycle process of purchasing, installing, maintaining, and replacing storage devices across on-premise and cloud IT environments.  This role collects and evaluates metrics to optimize storage operations.  This individual identifies risks, performs assessments, and analyzes risk mitigation strategies.  Finally, this individual is responsible for developing and maintaining system documentation and procedures in accordance with customer requirements.  The Customer utilizes an Agile Framework to plan and successfully complete all initiatives.

Primary Tasks:

  • Install, configure, and administer enterprise storage systems from multiple vendors to include, but not limited to, Dell EMC and Quantum
  • Install, configure, and administer Rubrik server and client software.  Schedule and monitor backup policies.  Generate backup status reports as required
  • Administer Cisco Brocade fibre channel switch fabrics.  Configure single initiator zone sets and monitor switch utilization and performance
  • Create and secure SMB file shares
  • Coordinate with server administrators to create, secure, and mount NFS exports
  • Develop and implement Disaster Recovery and Continuity of Operations plans in accordance with customer requirements
  • Install, configure, maintain, and administer Linux and Windows servers in support of storage operations such as Rubrik, Media, DSM and Master servers

  • Schedule and monitor volume replication for disaster recovery

Basic Qualifications

  • Develop and maintain dashboards and reports to provide visibility into cloud costs
  • Establish and enforce tagging standards and cost allocation policies. Ensure all resources are tagged every month
  • Automate cost management tasks and integrate FinOps tools into CI/CD pipelines
  • Flexera One CCO administrator
  • Proactively manage and maintain server systems
  • Administer and support core Microsoft technologies
  • Administer and support core Citrix technologies
  • Develop and implement project plans, risk assessments and contingency plans
  • Define and document best practices and support procedures
  • 24 X 7 X 365 systems’ monitoring and on-site availability if required
  • Mentor / cross-train team members on existing and new technologies
  • Carry out special tasks at Management’s direction
  • Participate in the team’s on-call support rotation
What We Look For in a Candidate
  • 5+ years of overall experience and 2+ years as FinOps engineer
  • Strong understanding of cloud platforms and pricing models
  • Deep understanding of cloud native cost management tools and Flexera One Cloud Cost Optimization
  • Proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI, Tableau)
  • Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for automation
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • FinOps Certified Engineer or similar certification
  • Experience in DevOps or Cloud Engineering roles.
  • May travel for 1-2 times/year for workshops
Compensation

This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors.

$132,232 - $176,310 in these states: AL AR AZ FL GA IA ID IN KS KY LA ME MO MS MT ND NE NM OH OK PA SC SD TN UT VT WI WV WY
$138,844 - $185,124 in these states: CO HI MI MN NC NH NV OR RI
$145,456 - $193,940 in these states: AK CA CT DC DE IL MA MD NJ NY TX VA WA
